Dr Hj Kamaruddin DSP Hj Talib is the Executive Director of K&H Reminttance Services, a financing remittance and general trading services for overseas workers and the Director of ABMS Co Sdn Bhd, a building maintenance (Electrical, Mechanical and Janitorial) service company. He is also the Chairman of Bureau Veritas, an accredition company and third party inspectors for marine survey and building materials and health hazard specifically on food inspection (HACCP) and quality, health, safety and environment; Aryaduta Sdn Bhd, a trading & constructions company; and KP Mineral & Chemical (B) Sdn Bhd, a chemical supply company for water treatment plants.

Dr Hj Kamaruddin started his career in the public sector in 1976 where he was a senior officer in the Department of Security and Intelligence and the Politcial Research Anaysis Department, Ministry Of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The latter was the foundation for the current Brunei Researh Department. After 14 years in the public sector, he embarked on a entrepreneurial pursuiit that led to the formation of pioneer companies that are active in the leading service industries of remittance, building maintencance, standards and other support services in the construction space.

He has acquired over 20 years of experience in the management of diverse projects, and an understanding of how business is conducted in Brunei Darussalm. This has led to his active involvment in the sustainable development of MSMEs where he is the current President of Brunei Malay Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the National Chambers of Commerce and Industry Brunei Darussalam (2015-2018). By the consent of His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam, he was appointed by the Energy and Industry Department under the Prime Minister's Office as a member of the Board of Director for DARe, an agency committed toward the sustainable development of MSMEs. As a representative of the private sector, he is also a members of Peneraju Strategi Ekonomi for non-oil and gas sector, trade and macro.

He has been awarded P.S.B (The Most Blessed Order of Setia Negara Brunei 4th Class) by His Majesty, the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam (2006-2007), the first Bruneian for "The Order of National De Merit" by the French Government (2003) and the Honourary title "Datu Seri Maharadja Shahbandar" by the Philippines Sultan of Sulu (2004). The latter was in recognition for his role in promoting Cultural and Student exchange program at institute of Higher Education level between Mindanao and Brunei Darussalam with the collaboration between Mindanao State University (Zamboangi City) and BIMP EAGA Brunei Chapter on his own initiative as Chairman of BEBC Brunei Chapter.

His Excellency Ambassador Motohiko Kato

A career diplomat, Ambassador Kato specialized in multilateral affairs.

In 1999, he was appointed Director of the WTO Dispute Settlement Division of the Ministry's Economic Affairs Bureau. In this position, he accumulated considerable expertise in a range of matters related to world trade.

In 2000, he assumed the role of Director of the Nuclear Energy Division of the Ministry's Foreign Policy Bureau. Among the various issues he handled in this position were nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear security in the IAEA.

In 2002, he was assigned to the post of Director of the Second International Organization Division of the Ministry's Economic Affairs Bureau. There, he took care of matters related to the OECD and international economic affairs and played a major part in negotiating free trade agreements with a number of countries.

His next move was in 2004, when he volunteered to serve as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Japanese Embassy in Afghanistan. In that position, he worked on the reconstruction of the country in cooperation with the United Nations and the international community.

In 2006, he became the Director of the International Cooperation Department of a Japanese Government think-tank, the National Institute for Research Advancement. There, he worked on a potential tripartite free trade agreement involving Japan, China and South Korea.

In 2007, he was appointed as Minister and Head of Chancery at the Japanese Embassy in Washington, DC. In 2010, he was assigned to the post of Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul-General at the Japanese Embassy in the Philippines, and two years later became Consul-General at the Consulate-General in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. In the latter role, he strove to represent the interests of Japanese businesses and citizens in five southern states.

In 2015, he was the Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary at the Japanese Embassy in the United Kingdom, where he participated in the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Academy Leadership Programme run by Chatham House.

In 2017, he was appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Brunei Darussalam. He graduated from Chuo University, Faculty of Law.

HAJI MOHAMMAD SOFFIAN BIN HAJI UMAR or simply SOFFIAN UMAR,is the managing partner of !Atone Management Services, a company providing advisory, leadership, training and coaching services in business management, project management, HSE (health, safety and environment) management and auditing, skills enhancement and human capaciy development. He is also a Director at Plant Integrity Assurance Sdn. Bhd., providing services in Asset Performance Management (APM), data hosting, remote connectivity & applications, and solutions integration. Soffian is a company advisor to Safetyworks Sdn. Bhd. that provides HSE management services and professional HSE officers for site HSE management. He is very active as an HSE practioner, and provides HSE management consultany and HSE auditing to a number of companies.

Soffian holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Glamorgan, Wales, United Kingdom, and a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Production Engineering, from Bolton Institute of Higher Education, England, United Kingdom. He is a certified OHSASi800i Auditor and holds a Diploma in Workplace Safety & Health.

He has more than 23 years' experience, both locally and overseas, in oil and gas operations and maintenance, in HSE (health, safety and environment) and in contract management, and has held managerial positions such as Head of Maintenance, Offshore Installation Manager (OIM), Technical Manager, Contract Manager, HSE Manager, HSE Trainer & Instructor, and HSE Auditor.

Soffian is a current member of the Brunei Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and holds office as the Secretary of Information and Public Relations, and is actively involved in various projects as a committee member for a number of the Chambers projects.

Musa Adnin
Managing Director of Adinin Group


Musa Adnin is the Managing Director of the Adinin Group, a fast growing, diversified, family-owned group of numerous companies with operations in Brunei Darussalam, East Africa, Middle East, and the ASEAN region.

In addition to being the Managing Director of the Adinin Group and his involvement in several other business interests both in Brunei Darussalam and abroad, he is First Honorary Consul of Mexico in Brunei Darussalam and First Honorary President of the French Bruneian Business Association (FBBA). He is an Executive Committee member of the Brunei Darussalam International Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BDICCI), and also a member of the Brunei Darussalam Malay Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

He has been appointed as a Member of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board (2012 to date), as an Adviser for the Pandan B Village Consultative Council (2012 to 2026) and a Member of the National Manpower Council (2016 to date). He has also been Deputy Chairman of Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah al Hajjah Maryam, Kuala Belait branch, since January 2014.

In September 2017, he was awarded the distinguished ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) "Legacy Award" for Brunei Darussalam.

He was bestowed the "Meritorious Service Order" (P.J.K.) in 2006 and "The Most Blessed Order of Setia Negara Brunei" (P.S.B.) in 2011 by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam.

He is married and has four children.
